Football Redmen to host Gaiters in “must-win” Turkey Bowl tonight at 7 p.m.
MONTREAL -- As Thanksgiving approaches, the McGill Redmen football team faces a must-win affair with Bishop's tonight in the "Turkey Bowl". Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium. Turkeys will be given away, with a number of other prizes up for grabs. A pre-game party is set for 6 p.m. in the East endzone entrance with $2 refreshments and hot dogs.
The Gaiters are 2-3 after defeating McGill 26-18 in Lennoxville last Saturday, which dropped the Redmen to 1-4, with four games remaining before playoffs. A win will put McGill in a four-way tie for the last two playoff berths in the six-team RSEQ conference. A loss would mean that the Redmen would have to win their all three of their remaining games over Concordia (2-3), Montreal (5-0) and Sherbrooke (2-3) in order to have a chance at making the playoffs.
Bishop's is 43-37-1 lifetime against McGill and have won nine of the last 11 meetings since they ended a seven-game losing skid to the Redmen in 2005.
Advance tickets are available at the McGill Sports Shop, inside the Currie Gym at 475 Pine Avenue W. Also available at the door at $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Children 12-and-under are admitted free.
