McGill seeded sixth for CIS Final Eight men's basketball championship in Ottawa

The McGill University Redmen are seeded sixth for the CIS men's basketball championship and will meet No.3-seeded Ottawa in their opener on Friday at 2:15 p.m. at Scotiabank Place in the nation's capital. McGill, which has a 21-7 record against CIS opponents, defeated the Gee-Gees 85-64 in their only meeting this season, a non-conference match-up last fall during the final of the Redbird Classic in Montreal on Oct. 21. Ottawa owns a 23-8 record against CIS teams, including three losses to Carleton, two against Bishop's and one apiece versus Concordia and Windsor. [+]

Martlet hoopsters win RSEQ championship, headed to Nationals for second straight season

Anneth Him-Lazarenko, a fifth-year senior from Panama City, registered a 'double-double" and led McGill to a thrilling 51-48 victory over Concordia to capture the RSEQ women's basketball conference title for the second straight year, before a record home crowd of 1,023 at Love Competition Hall. They will head out west next week, in search of their first ever national championship at the CIS Final Eight tourney in Regina, March 15-17. [+]

Redmen rally from huge deficit, beat Bishop's to win first Quebec championship since 1986; Off to Nationals for first time since 1979

Montrealer Adrian Hynes-Guery scored 24 points as McGill rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Bishop's 77-74 in heart-thumping RSEQ men's basketball championship final before a record crowd of 1,023 at Love Competition Hall, Saturday. [+]

Basketball universitaire féminin: défaite crève-coeur en demi-finale provinciale pour les Citadins

La formation féminine de basketball des Citadins a pris part à la demi-finale provinciale hier soir, alors qu'elle visitait les Stingers de l'Université Concordia. Après avoir offert un spectacle enlevant, la troupe de l'UQAM a abdiqué 65 à 62 pour ainsi voir sa saison 2012-2013 prendre fin. [+]

Basketball masculin | Gaiters well represented in RSEQ awards

The RSEQ announced the men’s basketball all-star teams and major award winners on Wednesday and the Bishop’s Gaiters were well represented. Mike Andrews was named player of the year and defensive player of the year, Rod Gilpin was the coach of the year and Tim Hunter received the RSEQ’s nomination for the Ken Shields award. Andrews and Jeremy Leonard-Smith were both first team all-stars while Jonathan Bermillo cracked a spot on the all-rookie team. [+]
