Sylla and Bibeau a good one-two punch as McGill women lick Laval, stretch win streak to 12
Mariam Sylla scored a game-high 18 points and Helene Bibeau added 17 as the No.6-ranked McGill women's basketball team waltzed to a 52-34 victory over visiting Laval at Love Competition Hall, Thursday.
Dating back to last year, McGill has now won a dozen consecutive contests against RSEQ opponents.
The Rouge et Or, who sit fourth in the five-team RSEQ conference with an uncharacteristic 1-4 record, will host McGill (5-0) on Friday (Jan. 10) in Quebec City. Tip-off is slated for 6 pm and the game will be webcast on Rouge et Or TV.

Dufort dominates as Redmen rally to topple Laval
Co-captain Vincent Dufort scored a game-high 27 points and Francois Bourque registered a "double-double" as the No.6-ranked McGill Redmen basketball squad used a dominant second-half performance to defeat Laval 88-69 at Love Competition Hall, Thursday.
The division-leading Redmen, who had a huge 46-31 edge in rebounding, improved to 5-0 in conference play, extending their win streak against RSEQ opponents to seven, dating back to last year.
Laval, which dropped to 1-4, returns to Quebec City to take on the Redmen (5-0) in Saturday's home-and-home rematch at the Centre PEPS.
REDMEN RAP: A memorial service will be held on Saturday (Jan. 11) at 3 p.m. for former Redmen assistant coach Bill MacArthur, who died suddenly of a heart attack on New Year's day at his home in Morin Heights. He was 62. MacArthur served as an assistant to McGill head coach Craig Norman from 2004 to 2010 and was a tireless worker and recruiter for the Redmen. A physical education teacher at Vanier College, he was involved in the Montreal basketball community as a player, coach and teacher for over 40 years. The service will be held at the Vanier College sports complex, 821 Boul. Ste. Croix, St. Laurent, Que.
