McGill kick returner named RSEQ football special teams player of the week
Yannick Langelier-Vanasse, a kick returner with the McGill Redmen, has been named special teams player of the week in the RSEQ football conference. The 5-foot-8, 178-pound native of Lachine, Que., was one of the few bright spots for the Redmen in their 46-14 loss to Sherbrooke last Friday.
A 21-year-old physical and health education major, he compiled a game-high 159 all-purpose yards, including 107 on six kickoff returns, 40 on a pair of punt returns and 12 more on a reception. His KO return total was more than the entire McGill team had in eight of their nine games last year.
Other RSEQ weekly award winners were quarterback Jérémi Roch-Doyon (offensive) of the Sherbrooke Vert & Or and Jean-Samuel Blanc (defence) of the Montreal Carabins.
It marks the second straight week that McGill has had a player recognized by the RSEQ. previously, Redmen linebacker Alexandre Bernard was picked as the league's defensive player of the week.
