Clément-Heydra and Vachon named McGill athletes of the week

MONTREAL - KatiaClément-Heydraof St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., andMarc-Olivier Vachonof Thetford Mines, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 23, 2012.
Clément-Heydra, a 5-foot-7 centre with the women's hockey team, scored eight points, including five goals as McGill won two of three games and captured the Queen's Triangular tournament in Kingston . The 22-year-old industrial relations junior registered a hat-trick, including the winning goal, and added an assist in a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over Guelph last Friday. The next day, she scored the shootout winner and added an assist in a 4-3 win over Queen's in the tourney finale. Earlier in the week, she scored once and added a helper in a 5-2 loss to the Lac St. Louis Royals, a boys midget team. A product of College Edouard-Montpetit, she joined the Martlets in 2010.
Vachon, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound junior forward on the men's hockey team, scored five points, including three goals in two games as McGill captured the Mustangs East-West tournament in London, Ont., over the weekend. The 22-year-old mining engineer netted a hat-trick, including the game-winner and added one assist as the Redmen rallied to defeat Waterloo 6-3 on Friday. He also contributed a helper on McGill's second goal of a 6-2 win over Western on Sunday. Prior to enrolling at McGill, Vachon played for the QMJHL's Drummondville Voltigeurs while studying at Collège College de Drummondville.
